04/12/2004 ~ Evening storms during the Easter holiday caused numerous isolated outages that affected Keys Energy Services (KEYS) customers throughout the Lower Keys Sunday evening and Monday morning.

Some KEYS customers throughout the Lower Keys experienced power outages between 10:00 p.m. and midnight Sunday. These outages, affecting 10-15 customers at a time in Summerland, Cudjoe, the Torch Keys and Big Pine, were directly related to severe storms and lightning strikes throughout KEYS service territory.

Monday morning heavy winds caused a Norfolk Pine to fall and damage power lines and a power pole on Big Pine Key. The outage began at 6:55 a.m. affecting a large portion of Big Pine Key residents. By 8:30, KEYS crews isolated the area where the tree was down and restored power to most customers. About 40 customers along Ship’s Way, Flying Cloud, Enterprise and Constitution were without power throughout the day while crews set a new pole.

KEYS regret any inconveniences experienced as a result of these outages.
