KEYS VIN SMITH TO RETIRE AFTER 23-YEARS OF SERVICE

12/16/2016 ~ On December 30, 2016, Keys Energy Services’ (KEYS) Vin Smith, will retire after 23-years of continuous service to the Utility.

Smith was originally hired in 1993 when the Utility was named City Electric System. Throughout his entire tenure he has held the position of Geographic Information System (GIS)/Autocad Operator within the Engineering department. In his post, he was responsible for accurately maintaining the GIS, providing accurate electrical drawings to ensure personnel safety and system reliability, and providing facility counts for asset and financial management.

When asked about the biggest changes he experienced while working at KEYS, Smith said that, “when I came to work at KEYS my wife and I were living on our boat. After I got a good job we became ‘landlubbers’.” In discussing the secret to his longevity he attributed it to taking it, “one day at a time.” In reminiscing about his time at KEYS, Smith said he will miss his co-workers the most.

In retirement, Smith plans to spend a lot more time doing what he loves, playing music and fishing. After a 23-year career at KEYS, he has earned the right to play his own tune.
