KEYS’ DON PAXSON TO RETIRE AFTER 20-YEARS OF SERVICE

12/21/2016 ~ On December 30, 2016, Keys Energy Services’ (KEYS) Don Paxson, will retire after 20-years of continuous service to the Utility.

Paxson was originally hired in 1996 when the Utility was named City Electric System. During his tenure he previously held the position of System Load Dispatcher prior to completing his career as a Power System Coordinator within the Engineering and Control department. Paxson is also a past president of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (I.B.E.W) Local 1990.

When asked about the biggest changes he experienced while working at KEYS, Paxson said, “an increase in system reliability and technology which helps identify outages.” In discussing his most memorable experiences over the past 20-years he recalled being awarded employee of the year in 2002 and working through Hurricanes Georges in 1998 and Wilma in 2005.

In retirement, Paxson will be free of a 12-hour work shift and anticipates missing his “morning con leche at Sandy’s Café” on his way into work. After a 20-year career at KEYS, he has earned the right to take his coffee break whenever he desires.
