KEYS MICHAEL COMMANDER TO RETIRE AFTER 30-YEARS OF SERVICE

07/21/2017 ~ On July 28, 2017, Keys Energy Services’ (KEYS) Michael Commander, will retire after 30-years of continuous service to the Utility.

Commander was originally hired as a temporary employee in 1986 when the Utility was named City Electric System. He became a full-time employee in 1987 and during his tenure worked as a General Helper and Journeyman Lineman prior to completing his career as a Line Leader in the Transmission & Distribution department.

When asked about his most memorable experiences at KEYS Commander cited assisting fellow utilities with power restoration after hurricanes, the name change to KEYS, and witnessing numerous infrastructure changes. In discussing the secret to his longevity he attributed it to the, “love of my work as a lineman.” In reminiscing about his time at KEYS Commander said he will miss seeing and working with all of his co-workers.

Commander and his wife of over 30-years, Debby, raised their three children, Britney, Victoria, and Michael, in Key West. In retirement Commander plans to take a road trip out west with his wife, indulge in his hobbies, and spend more time with his three grandchildren. After a 30-year career at KEYS, he has earned the right to enjoy the open road and cruise into the next chapter of his life.
