04/29/2004 ~ Keys Energy Services (KEYS) recently sponsored an electrical safety art contest for all elementary school students. One overall winner and two winners from each grade level were selected.

The overall winner was Kevin A. Florez-Bernal, a 5th grader from Poinciana Elementary school. His artwork will be featured on the cover of the 2004-2005 Electrical Safety Calendar. Other winners are:

Carli Paige Malone & Claire Young

2nd Grade:
Hanna Rae Condon & Chloé Savoie

3rd Grade:
Alex Mayorga & David Vincent Rodriguez

4th Grade:
Bobby Lee Finigan & Stacy Van

5th Grade:
Drake David Eckard & Guinevere A. Winslow

The 13 winners attended last nights regularly scheduled Utility Board meeting and were recognized for their efforts. All of the winners were presented with a certificate and a $50 U.S. Savings Bond, in addition to having their artwork featured in KEYS 2004-2005 Electrical Safety Calendar.

In other business, the Board:

- Awarded the replacement of underground 69kV cable at the White Street Substation to Energy Erectors, Inc., and approved the associated budget amendment, in the amount of $184,154.31, their bid being the best bid complying with specifications.

The regular meeting of the Utility Board took place at 5:00 p.m., April 28th, in the Louis Carbonell Board Room of the William Arnold Service Building, 1001 James Street, Key West.
