UTILITY BOARD APPROVES ADDITIONAL FUNDS FOR COMPUTER SYSTEM CONVERSION

08/26/2004 ~ The Utility Board approved the allocation of additional funds to Harris Computer Systems in the amount of $30,000 to cover the cost of increased training and on-site coverage during the current computer system conversion.

On February 25, 2004, the Board approved the original contract with Harris Computer Systems in the amount of $472,220. During the meeting, Keys Energy Services (KEYS) Staff stated that they may be coming back to the Board in the future to ask for the approval of additional funds.

Harris Computer Systems has been extensively working with the Information Technology department, along with Finance and Customer Services employees. Staff feels that additional conversion services will be required for the implementation of the Financials portion of this contract.

The allocation of funds approved by the Board will cover the cost of increased training for Directors, Supervisors, and Department Staff Assistants. Additionally, Harris will be on-site during the live “cut-over” period when the conversion is implemented in October for the Financials, and in February for Customer Services.

In other business, the Board:

- Approved the contract renewal for the leasing of six multi-function devices from the Xerox Corporation for $74,544 over 36 months.

- Awarded the contract for Janitorial Services to Diversified Services Co., Inc. in the annual amount of $24,500.28.

The regular meeting of the Utility Board took place at 5:00 p.m., August 25th, in the Louis Carbonell Board Room of the William Arnold Service Building, 1001 James Street, Key West.
