10/27/2004 ~ The Utility Board appointed Mona Clark to fill the Group 4 seat left vacant by the passing of Dr. Otha P. Cox. By virtue of her appointment, Clark has become the first female Board member in the utility’s history.

Clark, a 50 plus year Key West resident, has worked for the Monroe County School District for 30 years, serving as a teacher and administrator – she is currently the Assistant Principal at Glynn Archer Elementary. She is also a member of various civic organizations and governmental task forces, and was the Chair of Florida Keys Community College’s Board of Trustees from 1999 – 2001.

In other business, the Board:

- Approved the cancellation of the November 24, 2004, and December 22, 2004, Board meetings due to the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.

- Awarded the repair of Over-the-Water Transmission line pole foundations to S.G. Pinney & Associates, at an estimated amount of $767,585.50, their bid being the best bid complying with specifications.

- Awarded construction monitoring services of the Transmission pole foundation repair project to Power Engineers, Inc., in the not-to-exceed amount of $126,462, their proposal being the best quote complying with specifications.

The regular meeting of the Utility Board took place at 5:00 p.m., October 27th, in the Louis Carbonell Board Room of the William Arnold Service Building, 1001 James Street, Key West.
