05/12/2005 ~ Keys Energy Services (KEYS) recently sponsored an Electrical Safety Art Contest for all elementary school students in the Lower Florida Keys. One overall winner and two winners from each grade level were selected to grace the pages of KEYS annual calendar.

The overall winner was Ronnie A. Berry, a Fourth Grader from Gerald Adams Elementary school. His artwork will be featured on the cover of the 2005-2006 Electrical Safety Calendar. The winners of the artwork that will grace each of the 12 months are:

Noah Jett Goldberg & Kaitlynn Marie Owsley

First Grade:
Megan E. Gruschow & Ashley M Leto

Second Grade:
Chynna Eckard & Alexandra Pollitt

Third Grade:
Jade C. Beuth & Katie Upshaw

Fourth Grade:
Michell Gonzalez & Chanice Dos Santos

Fifth Grade:
Marliese DeMauro & Eva Louise Hooten

The 13 winners attended last nights regularly scheduled Utility Board meeting and were recognized for their efforts. All of the winners were presented with a certificate and a $50 U.S. Savings Bond, in addition to having their artwork featured in KEYS 2005-2006 Electrical Safety Calendar.

In other business, the Board:

- Approved General Services Administration (GSA) Contract Municipal Lease Purchase for two AM55 Aerial Device Units from Altec Industries, Inc., in the amount of $289,470.00.

- Awarded the bid to replace the Definity PBX Switch, the PBX Switchboard, and all telephone hand sets to Cross Telecom, in the amount of $270,600.

The regular meeting of the Utility Board took place at 5:00 p.m., May 11th, in the Louis Carbonell Board Room of the William Arnold Service Building, 1001 James Street, Key West.
