06/10/2005 ~ The Utility Board approved repairs to Keys Energy Services’ (KEYS) Medium Speed Diesel #1 Spare Turbocharger by Motor-Services Hugo Stamp, Inc., in the amount of $58,710.64.

With the start of hurricane season, KEYS staff felt it important to have the spare turbocharger in stock. The spare turbocharger will reduce any downtime experienced with the Medium Speed Diesels in the event of a failure of any of the turbochargers currently in service.

The spare turbocharger will also help KEYS insure its 60-percent On-Island Backup Generation Policy established by the Board. The policy allows for KEYS to supply a minimum of 60-percent of the area’s peak power requirements in the event of a prolonged power outage.

In other business, the Board:

- Approved the cancellation of the June 22nd and July 27th Utility Board meetings due to the American Public Power Association Annual Conference and the Florida Municipal Electric Association/Florida Municipal Power Agency Annual Conference.

- Approved the Florida State Contract (#255-000-03-1) purchase of Cisco Network Equipment from Solarcom, in the total net amount of $28,122.40, and declared existing Cisco Network Equipment as “Surplus”.
