07/22/2005 ~ Jerry Pita, Jr., Journey Lineman, has been named Keys Energy Servicesí (KEYS) Outstanding Employee of the Third Quarter for 2005.

Pita has worked for the utility for more than 22 years and prior to his current position was an Oiler and Tree Trimmer. His main responsibilities include the maintenance of overhead and underground distribution systems.

Pita says that he finds the challenge of the job very rewarding and enjoys the friendships he has forged with his co-workers throughout the years.

The Employee of the Quarter Committee selects an employee four times a year for this award. Employees are considered for the award after being nominated by their peers or supervisors. Final selection of the outstanding employee is based on several factors, which include attendance, attitude, efficiency, initiative, and job performance, among others.

Pita was born and raised in Key West and is a Key West High School graduate. He lives in Key West with his wife Kim and their two children Jessica (18) and Garrett (12). In his spare time Pita enjoys spending time with his family on the water and going fishing, diving, and hunting.

The Utility Board recognized Pita as the Outstanding Employee of the Third Quarter for 2005 and presented him with a $100 bonus during their regular meeting on July 13th. His name will be engraved on a perpetual plaque that hangs in the William Arnold Service Building lobby, and he will receive an extra day off.
