10/13/2005 ~ The Utility Board recently appointed Don Way as the District Five representative of Keys Energy Services (KEYS) Advisory Committee, which serves Big Pine Key to the Seven-Mile Bridge.

“We’re thrilled to have Mr. Way on the Advisory Committee,” said Carl R. Jansen, Keys Energy Services (KEYS) General Manager & CEO. “Much is happening in the electric industry and KEYS is facing many new and interesting issues of which Mr. Way’s input will be very beneficial.”

In 1998 the Board approved the creation of a five-member Advisory Committee, which was designed to provide the Board and KEYS staff with community input on various issues to KEYS including generation, distribution, finance, customer service, and new ventures.

The Committee promotes public access to information on KEYS facilities, services, policies, and programs concerning energy, and considers future energy needs of the community. The Committee also assists the Utility staff by suggesting and reviewing programs and services.

Community members represent five districts: Charlie Bradford (District 1 – Key West to Stock Island); Henry B. Hamilton (District 2 – Key Haven to Big Coppitt); Sandra Walters (District 3 – Shark Key to Sugarloaf Key); Paul Marotte (District 4 – Cudjoe Key to the Torch Keys); and Don Way (District 5 – Big Pine Key to the Seven-Mile Bridge).
