01/09/2006 ~ The Utility Board of the City of Key West recently appointed Lynne Tejeda as Keys Energy Services’ General Manager & CEO. By virtue of her appointment, Tejeda has become the first female chief executive in the utility’s history.

Tejeda’s contract was approved by the Board on December 14th, and it became effective on December 28th.

Tejeda has been employed by KEYS since 1989 when she was hired as the utility’s first full-time Public Information Officer. In 2003 Tejeda was tapped by KEYS’ former General Manager & CEO, Carl R. Jansen, to become Assistant General Manager & Chief Operating Officer.

In her new capacity, Tejeda is responsible for the day-to-day management of the utility, implementing the decisions of the Utility Board with respect to utility operations, and keeping the Board informed of the status of the utility.

Tejeda received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1989 and her Master of Business Administration degree from Regis University in Denver, Colorado, in 2004.

Tejeda has appointed Jack Wetzler as the utility’s Assistant General Manager & Chief Financial Officer.
