03/09/2006 ~ The Utility Board approved Keys Energy Services’ (KEYS) Annual Audit for the Fiscal Year ended September 20, 2005, at its regular meeting on March 8th.

The Utility Board was presented with a “clean opinion” by Oropeza & Parks, P.A. Denise Rohrer, representing the firm, stated that the Utility’s finances were strong.

According to procedure, the Board has its financial statements audited by an independent accountant, at least once a year, within 180 days after the close of the fiscal year. Copies of the audited financial statements will be available to customers upon request.

The Board also appointed Elsie Metcalf to fill the District Four (Cudjoe Key to the Torch Keys) seat vacancy on the Advisory Committee.

Metcalf will join Sandra Walters (District 3), Chairperson; James R. Gilleran (District 1); Henry B. Hamilton (District 2); and Don Way (District 5) on the Advisory Committee.

In other business, the Board:

- Approved the payment to the City of Key West in the amount of $343,341 for the Fiscal Year ended 9/30/05. Taken in to account with In-Kind Services totaling $456,443, KEYS paid out a total of $799,784 to the City of Key West in Fiscal Year 2005.

The regular meeting of the Utility Board took place at 5:00 p.m., March 8th, in the Louis Carbonell Board Room of the William Arnold Service Building, 1001 James Street, Key West.
