03/31/2006 ~ In a continuing effort to beautify the community and bring art in to local neighborhoods, Keys Energy Services (KEYS) and Sculpture Key West recently unveiled a new sculpture at KEYS’ Alvin Frazier III Memorial Park, on the corner of Flagler Avenue and Eighteenth Street.

Jenny Mead’s Prayerful, 2006 was placed in the Park in an ongoing partnership with Sculpture Key West and their art in the community program.

Sculpture Key West Director Karley Klopfenstein said Mead has, “an optimistic view of humanity and a taste for grand gestures.” She added that Mead, “attempts to express something about people, the universe, and our place in the world.” Mead has participated in Sculpture Key West for the past two years and lives in Bethesda, Maryland, and Key West.

The Flagler Avenue park is one of three such parks that have been converted from outdated substations into green spaces for the community and surrounding neighborhoods to enjoy. The Alvin Frazier III Memorial Park, along with the Grinnell Street Pocket Park, and the main entrance to KEYS Service Building all currently feature sculptures from Sculpture Key West.
