KEYS’ JOHN B. KERR TO RETIRE AFTER 31 YEARS OF SERVICE

10/20/2008 ~ On October 31, 2008, Keys Energy Services’ (KEYS) Meter Service Leader John B. Kerr will retire after 31-years of service to the Utility.

Kerr has been employed by KEYS since 1978 and started working as a Meter Reader, when City Electric System graced the utilities’ letterhead. Throughout his tenure at KEYS, Kerr worked his way up through the Meter Services department serving in numerous capacities prior to his current position as Meter Service Leader.

When asked about some of the memorable experiences he has experienced at KEYS during his three decade career, Kerr stated, “the change of going from a local generating utility to one tied in to the mainland power grid,” as one of the most memorable. He also recalled his days as a Meter Reader and, “being chased by neighborhood dogs and having to out run them,” for his own safety.

In reminiscing about his time at KEYS, Kerr attributed his longevity to the co-workers he has been able to share, “happy moments as well as the sad ones,” with, and a work ethic of, “always doing a good job, no matter how small.”

Kerr hopes to do some traveling in the near future, enjoy the company of his sons and granddaughters, and start work on the list of projects around the house his wife has compiled for him. A fan of the University of Miami football team, Kerr would also, “like to see the Hurricanes win a few National Championships,” while he is cheering them on in the stands. No doubt he has earned the right to witness a few championship games aft
