01/13/2009 ~ Cindy McVeigh has been named Keys Energy Services’ (KEYS) Outstanding Employee of the First Quarter for 2009.

McVeigh has worked for the Utility for close to three years and currently serves as KEYS’ Finance Supervisor for Accounting and Analysis. Prior to her current position, McVeigh served as an Accountant/Financial Analyst for the Utility. She is currently responsible for supervising the accounting staff, preparing financial statements, and overseeing payroll, billing, and the management of fixed assets.

McVeigh finds the challenging, fast paced working environment, as well as the ability to work with great people, the most rewarding part of her job. She added that, “KEYS’ employees are top notch professionals dedicated to providing quality service to its customers.”

Jack Wetzler, KEYS’ Assistant General Manager & CFO, said of McVeigh, “she is one of the biggest assets on our balance sheet.”

The Employee of the Quarter Committee selects an employee four times a year for this award. Employees are considered for the award after being nominated by their peers and/or supervisors. Final selection of the outstanding employee is based on several factors, which include attendance, attitude, efficiency, initiative, and job performance, among others.

McViegh was born in Florida, and moved to Key West in 2005 after 25 years in Atlanta, Georgia. She received her Bachelor’s degree in business administration and Certified Public Accountant certificate from the University of Georgia. McVeigh is actively involved with the Florida Keys SPCA and Key West Southernmost Runners where she serves as Treasurer. She lives in Key West with her husband Roger, and their two dogs.

The Utility Board will recognize McVeigh as the Outstanding Employee of the First Quarter for 2009 during their regular meeting on Wednesday, January 28th. Her name will be engraved on a perpetual plaque that hangs in the William Arnold Service Building lobby, she will receive a $250 bonus, and an extra day off.
