05/28/2009 ~ At their regular meeting on Wednesday, May 27th, the Utility Board approved independent auditing services contracts with Oropeza & Parks, CPAs for the Utility Board, and Cherry, Bekaert & Holland, LLP for the Utility’s retirement system.

Keys Energy Services’ (KEYS) Bid Opening Committee received three proposals for auditing services for the Utility Board and the retirement system for the general employees of the Utility Board. Each contract contains an initial term of three years plus an option for one three year renewal, upon the mutual agreement between KEYS and the firm.

“Oropeza & Parks, CPAs has been auditing the firm for the Utility Board and Cherry, Bekaert, and Holland, LLP have been the Utility’s auditing firms since 2003,” said KEYS’ General Manager & CEO Lynne Tejeda. She added that, “both have done a professional job.”

The contract with Oropeza & Parks, CPAs is for $257,850, and the contract with Cherry, Bekaert & Holland, LLP is for $48,000.

The regular meeting of the Utility Board took place at 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 27th, in the Louis Carbonell Board Room of the William Arnold Service Building, 1001 James Street, Key West.
