02/03/2011 ~ Eddie Garcia has been named Keys Energy Services’ (KEYS) Outstanding Employee of the First Quarter for 2011.

Garcia has worked for the Utility for 23-years and currently serves as Director of Generation. Prior to his current position, Garcia served as KEYS’ Environment/Safety Officer. Garcia said he enjoys serving his community and that KEYS has provided him with, “the opportunity to grow and learn new things.” He also added that, “all of the employees I have had a chance to work with over the years have been great and supportive.”

The Employee of the Quarter Committee selects an employee four times a year for this award. Employees are considered for the award after being nominated by their peers and/or supervisors. Final selection of the outstanding employee is based on several factors, which include attendance, attitude, efficiency, initiative, and job performance, among others.

Garcia was born and raised in Key West and is a graduate of Key West High School. He lives in Key West with his wife Damarys and daughter Suzette, and in his free time Garcia enjoys traveling with his family.

The Utility Board will recognize Garcia as the Outstanding Employee of the First Quarter for 2011 during their regular meeting on Wednesday, February 9th. His name will be engraved on a perpetual plaque that hangs in the William Arnold Service Building lobby, he will receive a $250 bonus, and an extra day off.
