UPPER KEYS SUBSTATION FAULT CAUSES POWER OUTAGE

11/25/2003 ~ A fault in the Tavernier Substation caused the power outage which affected all Keys Energy Services (KEYS) customers Tuesday morning. The outage lasted approximately 10 minutes.

KEYS customers from the Seven-Mile Bridge to Key West lost power at 10:06 a.m. when a fault in the Florida Keys Electric Cooperative’s (FKEC) Tavernier Substation occurred due to operator error. The tieline was reenergized three minutes later at 10:09 am, with all customers being energized by 10:16 am.

KEYS regret any inconveniences experienced as a result of this outage.
