KEYS DONATES ELECTRICITY MONITORS TO LOCAL LIBRARIES IN HONOR OF PUBLIC POWER WEEK

10/10/2012 ~ In honor of Public Power Week, October 7-13th, Keys Energy Services (KEYS) recently donated ten “Kill-A-Watt” electricity monitors to the Key West and Big Pine Key public libraries.

The monitors are available for checkout to Lower Florida Keys residents to be used to measure the amount of electricity different appliances use within their home. Appliances can be plugged directly into the monitors to measure their energy usage and efficiency.

“Electricity monitors are wonderful tools to help KEYS’ customers gauge the efficiency of their various appliances,” said Lynne Tejeda, KEYS’ General Manager & CEO. She added that, “by having the monitors available for checkout at our local libraries, Lower Keys residents can reap their benefits without having to make a personal financial investment in the device.”

With Public Power Week, KEYS joins more than 2,000 public power utilities from across the nation to explain the importance of public power contributions to local citizens. Public Power Week, now in its 26th year, began on October 7th, and Florida’s municipal utilities are using this time to remind citizens of the importance of energy conservation.
