11/29/2012 ~ The Utility Board approved a resolution recognizing and thanking employees from the Transmission & Distribution (T&D) department for their dedication and hard work in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, during their regularly scheduled meeting on Wednesday, November 29th.

Seven employees from the T&D department traveled to Long Island, New York, to assist the Long Island Power Authority with post-storm restoration efforts. The resolution acknowledged that the employees who volunteered for restoration duty were away from the comforts of home for over two-weeks while working tirelessly to restore power to Long Island residents devastated by Hurricane Sandy. The resolution also highlights those employees who stayed behind and had to pick up heavier workloads to accommodate the employees who were away.

Keys Energy Services (KEYS) will further recognize the Hurricane Sandy Restoration Crew by having them lead KEYS’ line-up in the City of Key West’s annual Holiday Parade on Saturday, December 8th. The crew will ride in one of the trucks they took to New York during restoration efforts.

The regular meeting of the Utility Board took place at 5:00 p.m., November 28th, in the Louis Carbonell Board Room of the William Arnold Service Building, 1001 James Street, Key West.
