01/30/2013 ~ Keys Energy Services (KEYS) advises its customers that helicopter-based repairs of the Transmission line (Tieline) are scheduled to be conducted throughout the month of February, from 8:00A to 6:00P, from Key West to the Seven-Mile Bridge – weather permitting.

KEYS customers should be aware of the helicopter flying near Tieline poles along the US1 Highway, from Garrison Bight Harbor to North Roosevelt Boulevard and Stock Island to the Seven-Mile Bridge. Additionally, residents are advised to drive safely while this work is in progress, and keep their focus on the road and not the helicopter flying overhead.

The repairs will be made by P&G Power who will be repairing grounding wires at the top and base of the utility poles. All work will take place Monday through Friday, with Saturday’s being reserved as make-up weather delay days.

“These repairs are required in order to maintain the reliability of our system,” said Lynne Tejeda, KEYS’ General Manager & CEO. She went on to add that, “the exposure of our system to the Florida Keys environment requires constant maintenance in order to reliably power paradise.” P&G Power was selected as the vendor for this project, at a total cost to KEYS of $248,000.
