04/18/2014 ~ In honor of Earth Day on April 22nd, Keys Energy Services (KEYS) recently donated two “Kill-A-Watt” electricity monitors and energy conservation DVDs to the Key West and Big Pine Key public libraries. The electricity monitors join ten that KEYS previously donated to the local library system in 2012.

The monitors are available for checkout to Lower Florida Keys residents to be used to measure the amount of electricity different appliances use within their home. Appliances can be plugged directly into the monitors to measure their energy usage and efficiency.

The energy conservation DVDs are also available for checkout. The DVDs contain 16 video segments that were produced in conjunction with the Florida Municipal Power Agency and offer tips on energy conservation measures that can be taken in private residences. The video segments are also available to view on KEYS’ YouTube channel at

“Electricity monitors and the energy conservation DVDs are wonderful tools to help KEYS’ customers evaluate their energy usage,” said Lynne Tejeda, KEYS’ General Manager & CEO. She added that, “by having these items available for checkout at our local libraries, Lower Keys residents can access them at their convenience and use them in the comfort of their home.”
