KEYS OFFICIALS MEET WITH THEIR LARGEST CONSUMER OF POWER; TOUR NAVAL AIR STATION

05/22/2014 ~ Keys Energy Services’ (KEYS) officials recently met with representatives from its largest consumer of electricity, Naval Air Station (NAS) Key West, to learn more about its operations and discuss projects of joint interest to both agencies. During the meeting, Commanding Officer Captain Steve McAlearney reviewed the strategic mission of NAS Key West and led a tour of the NAS Boca Chica facility.

All Navy properties in the Lower Florida Keys consume an average of 3.9-million kilowatt-hours* of electricity each month. The average monthly bill for NAS Key West is approximately $500,000.

*Kilowatt-hour (kwh) – A common unit of electric energy consumption, and the basic unit of electric energy. 1,000 watts consumed for one hour equals a single kilowatt-hour.
