02/12/2015 ~ The Utility Board appointed Teresa DeKeyrel as Keys Energy Services (KEYS) representative on the Career Service Council (CSC) for a two-year term effective February 12, 2015, to February 12, 2017, at their regular meeting on February 11th.

The CSC was created in Monroe County on October 1, 1969, and operates under authority delegated by the State Legislature Laws of Florida chapter 69-1321. The CSC hears appeals on suspensions, demotions, and terminations from employees of KEYS, the Florida Keys Aqueduct Authority, Mosquito Control, and Monroe County. Each agency appoints a representative to serve a two-year term and then those four representatives appoint a fifth member-at-large for the CSC.

KEYS previous representative to the CSC was Greg Talbott, who represented the KEYS since 2010. Talbott recently relocated out of Monroe County and sent his resignation notice to the CSC. DeKeyrel is the Payroll & Benefits Manager for Spottswood Companies, Inc. and is a member of the Florida Keys Society for Human Resources Management.

In other business, the Board awarded a contract for transmission line relay protection upgrades to SEL Engineering, LLC for a total cost of $149,100.These enhancements will take advantage of new technology and increase transmission fault protection throughout KEYS’ service area.

The regular meeting of the Utility Board took place at 5:00 p.m., Wednesday February 11th, in the Florida Keys Aqueduct Authority Board Room, 1100 Kennedy Drive, Key West.
