03/09/2004 ~ As part of Keys Energy Services (KEYS) Community Outreach Program, 14 KEYS employees volunteered at the polls for the March 9th election through a special partnership with the Supervisor of Elections.
“This is the fourth year KEYS employees have volunteered to work the election polls,” said Carl Jansen, KEYS general manager. “We are pleased to support our employees who want to serve as poll workers during election time.”
In 2001, the Utility Board approved the Elections Work – Community Outreach Program to provide release time to KEYS employees willing to volunteer as poll workers during elections. Participating employees, who have to be registered voters, agree to participate in a training session and then staff the polls during elections. Through the program, the stipend usually paid to poll workers will be signed over to a local charity on behalf of KEYS and the employee.
“I’m looking forward to elections again this year,” said Heather Arencibia, training, grants and Human Resources coordinator for KEYS. “Last year, I really enjoyed contributing to the community by helping voters.”
