KEYS SET TO START WORK ON UPGRADES TO OLD TOWN SUBSTATION

05/27/2016 ~ Beginning June 1st, Keys Energy Services’ (KEYS) contractors will begin working on a $2.12-million upgrade to the Key West Diesel Electrical Substation in the Old Town section of Key West (105-111 Geraldine Street and 112 Angela Street). The work will be performed by J.L. Malone & Associates LLC, and is slated to last until September 15th.

The contractor will oversee the design, construction, and installation as a turnkey project to upgrade the circa 1965 control building structure in the substation. The Key West Diesel Electrical Substation, named after the Key West Diesel plant which once operated on that site, serves the Navy base at Truman Annex, the Duval Street corridor, Bahama Village, and the privately developed section of Truman Annex.

Work hours will follow the Key West City Noise Ordinance of Monday through Friday from 8:00A to 7:00P, and Saturday from 9:00A to 5:00P. No power outages or road closures are planned at this time during construction. Customers seeking additional information on this project should contact KEYS’ Engineering department at (305) 295-1042.
