Keys Energy Services is connected to the mainland transmission grid through
a 61-mile long 138 kilovolt transmission line. The line extends up along
US 1 Highway through the Florida Keys Electric Cooperative service territory
and ties into Florida Power and Light at the Dade-Monroe County line.
The Utility Board jointly owns, along with the Florida Keys Electric
Cooperative, the transmission line through the Coop service area.
Keys Energy Services also constructed a second transmission line between
Big Coppitt and Stock Island. The second transmission line provides greater
reliability for Keys Energy Services' customers.
Keys Energy Services provides power directly to its customers through
its distribution system. The distribution system comprises approximately
251 miles of three-phase distribution at 13,800 volts and an additional
5.7 miles of distribution at 4,180 volts.
